Coastal development is the Hawksbills largest threats. The beaches that the Hawksbills use for nesting are in areas that are increasing with human use. The nest predation is the second highest threat due to countries that consume turtle eggs. The third highest threat is due to direct take. Hawksnest turtle shells are often used to make jewelry and decorations.
